Ladies ‘n’ things is in the business of wholesale and retail of ladies clothing and accessories, to meet the fashion needs of corporate ladies, expectant mothers, and everyday women.
How long have you been in business? Since 1997, that was when we opened our first shop in the heart of Ikeja, and since then the business has expanded to six sales outlets and staff strength of 30.
Why this nature of business? I have the flair for it, and all my life I have being doing clothing’s, both in Nigeria and the United States.
What is your assessment of the industry? For me, the industry is growing fast in a sense that every lady wants to look good, and we are here to provide all their needs in the fashion world. Nevertheless, it also gives me joy to hear my customers' comments and respond to their various needs.
How do you cope with competition? Am not moved by my competitors, beca use I see my things differently from theirs. Also I believe the quality of what I sell is far better than my so called competitors if there are any.
What sets your products and services apart from competition? Maybe, our package, quality, products, and services. Talking about services, we have different products to suit our various customers, such as catalogue shopping, home and office delivery, alteration and amendment, and now, we introduced a new service, the 'up starters' which is an entrepreneurial program for the young fashion entrepreneurs. This program provides mentoring and loan facility to participants, which is giving the much needed business expertise, and counsel, to help them achieve their entrepreneurial aim. We also have wide collection for expectant mothers, which include maternity gowns, tops, shirts, pants, flat shoes and slippers. Also there is an exclusive collection for 'the big and beautiful', which include large shoe sizes, suits, pants, gowns, and blazers.
Asides from competition, what other challenges do you face in this business? Honestly, my challenge is Staff, people are not ready to work, and they want to live above their income. That’s too bad.
What is the future for you in business? For me I believe, is to have fashion industries spread across the nation.
