Priscilla IheanachoIn these times of global economic crisis, and recession, Pricilla Iheanacho, beautiful, intelligent, and innovative experiences a lifting up in her business.
In this interview she opens up on her passion and love.

WHAT KIND OF BUSINESS ARE YOU INTO?
Perfumery is my core business, but I see myself as a beautician. I love making people beautiful. I like to see the transformation on the faces of people.
Beauty is not just how you look from the inside; a lot also depends on the outside. In addition to the perfumery is a Spa. A spa is a beauty and health
centre that utilizes water as the basic ingredient and source of energy, offering rejuvenation of both body and soul. A spa can be pampering, rejuvenating,
nurturing, caring, and calming. It also can be so relaxing, physically and more importantly, spiritually. A spa can help you improve fitness, detoxify, commune
\with nature, and learn about nutrition. At a spa, you can regain your inner balance and manage stress, enhance feelings of tranquillity, well being and heal.
This confirms that I am indeed a beautician. Truth is, there is usually a wide smile on the faces of people when they look at the mirror and are satisfied with
their looks. That smile indicates satisfaction derived from the make-up or the perfume. That smile, that satisfaction, is for me the driving force.

FIFTEEN YEARS IN THIS BUSINESS WITHOUT DIVERSIFICATION?

I have gone into other businesses too, but all tilting towards the well being and beauty of the individual. One of my businesses is a restaurant that came
about as a result of the need to provide people with healthy diet. For me it is not just about people coming to eat food, it is about the health and well being
of our patrons. People that come here for Spa treatment usually savour the delight of our restaurant.

HOW HAVE YOU MANAGED TO COPE WITH THESE BUSINESSES?

It is by God’s grace really.  While the spa and restaurant are in the same building, the perfumery is housed in a separate building.
Over the years, I have developed the capacity to handle issues of management and administration aptly. Sometimes it does get hectic but God is seeing us through.

HOW WOULD YOU RATE YOUR PERFORMANCE OVER THE YEARS?

Over the years, I must confess we have done well. When we started, the business environment was quite favourable, compared to what we have today.
The exchange rate was friendly, and the strength of the naira was impressive.   Our prices were then very buyer friendly and business was simply excellent.
As the years went by, the value of the naira started to slide down wards and things began to take different shapes. Cost of doing business began to increase,
and our prices also started adjusting accordingly.  We have had to make people understand why they have to pay more. Honestly, our profit has declined over the years
but when you are committed to that which you are doing, you will weather the storm. What I do is borne out of love and passion so I have to hold on but at good times,
and at bad times. I have no doubt that we will get there. God is helping us.
