So… we now live in a time, when everyone is so health conscious, calorie conscious, fitness conscious, and so on; how conscious do you want to be, believe me it is happening. Every day we see countless, praises and hailing of many individuals who have lost from 50kg to even hundred kilograms of body weight and talk about how amazing their lives are. These are amazing feats, and very motivating, who can forget 'Teyana Taylor Dance' in Kanye West's 'Fade video,' which was premiered in the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards? I had dreams of me in a crop top. That body looked so sculpted, it snatched weaves, literally. With all these in your face...you are obligated to lose weight.
Great, it is a step and a journey, but this journey starts from your mind.
Losing weight does not just include a change in of your physical outlook but a change of lifestyle, it is a journey that requires consistency, discipline, patience and hard work, but little light is put on the mental tasks you have to undergo to begin the journey. Did you think about it before you began?
So, here are some questions that will make you sit and think before you decide to change your life.
DO YOU WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT?
As crazy as this question seems, it remains one of the most important questions ever. A lot of people say they want to lose weight; well their actions say otherwise, I have been a plus size kind of girl for almost half my life, and a proud foodie, I grew up not having many choices where delicacies were concerned, so when things got better, I ate every 'freaking' delicious thing that came my way, and losing weight was the last thing on my mind; I did not care. Let us face it not everyone wants to lose weight, and there is no judgement here.
WHY DO YOU WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT?
I cannot emphasize the importance of this question, because it determines how long you will go and how far you will go in your weight loss journey. Please never ever lose weight to impress or please anyone.
Being the big girl was not fun, you had everyone, turning to a weight watcher, health analyst and critic on your case, and it could cause you to get into depression, lack of self-confidence, lack of self-worth, and all of a sudden you want to please everybody...I did that, and later decided to start working on my weight to please someone I loved.
After two months, instead of me getting encouraged I got a whole lot of criticisms on how I was not losing enough pounds, fast enough. That stung! I went back to food, and packed on more pounds!
Weight loss is a PERSONAL Journey...it is for you; your benefit and your happiness. You go to the gym because you want to look sexy for you.
YOU! YOU!! YOU!!! Be selfish about it.
