At the Global Water Partnership (GWP) Secretariat in Stockholm-Sweden he investigated climate change threats and impacts on the water resources of eight African countries. He also drafted input for the Water, Climate and Development Programme (WACDEP) website: launched jointly by GWP and the African Ministers Council on Water (AMCOW) during the Africa Focus Day, Stockholm World Water Week – August 2011. The launch was attended by Ministers of water from Nigeria, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Egypt, Sudan, Sierra Leone, Ethiopia, South Africa, and Gabon.
In Abuja-Nigeria he was a Consultant to the Federal Ministry of Water Resources (FMWR), during which he wrote a National Adaptation Programmes of Action (NAPA) working document, and led a Scenario Planning Exercise (SPE), with recommendations from the SPE incorporated into NAPA. He also developed and wrote a funding proposal for the Water-Sector development programme.
In Germany he was a lecturer at Hochschule Fresenius University of Applied Sciences, the Volkshochschule (vhs), and Inlingua Sprachschule. Established in 1997, the Sudan Volunteer Programme (SVP) is a London and Khartoum-based charitable organisation committed to raising the standard of English amongst Sudanese nationals, who increasingly need it to access jobs allowing a reasonable standard of living but lack key skills such as reading, writing, speaking and listening. Consequently, Mr. Ita was one of the pioneer volunteer teachers sent to Sudan. The SVP is more than simply an educational organisation, it also aims to promote positive cross-cultural communication in a complex and fascinating country that is much misunderstood globally.
